Talking Zeds features a different 4ZZZ announcer week to week. The key words are: community, interest, variety.
During the darkest days of 4ZZZfm, not many people listened, the volunteers argued and backstabbed each other at long and boring collective meetings. Subscribers were at an all time low, debts crept up and the stations building itself was falling apart. Bricks crumbling, toilets imploded and ashtrays were full of discarded needles.
But not all was lost, there was still one good and shiny thing left at 291 st pauls terrace. The Voltron and Charlie show. Monday afternoons from 3-6pm the shackles of communism seemed that little bit lighter, the dank musty smell of the cd library temporarily sweetened and the sun would shine directly onto the leaking tin roof, riddled with holes.
From sometime in the late 90’s to some other time in the late 90’s, or maybe even the early 2000’s, who really cares, Voltron and Charlie was the best show on 4ZZZ. Unanimously agreed by all who heard it, every other show sounded awful by comparison. In fact, it was so good, only the tyrannical hand of marketing and sponsorship could bring it down in controversial fashions. Which it did.
Well lucky you, its coming back for one time only. October 9th, 10am-12pm as part of the 4ZZZfm 50th anniversary, Voltron and Charlie are here to fix everything once again.
